Before I begin the biannual descent into madness known as finals week, I’d like to take a moment to thank everyone who contributed to the growth and success of Clark Writes during this academic year:
Professor Jay Elliott, for his continued support and encouragement, and for working with us to give the Clark University English Department a larger campus presence
David Fullerton, owner of Acoustic Java, for sponsoring our end-of-semester writing contests (check out the current one here)
The Clark Writes Board of Editors
Eli Goldman, for his willingness to share his seemingly endless supply of local produce
Tom Matthews, for wearing strange hats, performing dramatic Shakespeare readings, and taking a soccer ball to the face; all in the name of promoting our blog
Laura Barker, for still being the first to show up to meetings after saying she’ll be late
Molly Caisse, for putting together a genius Photoshop image of Tyler’s face and incidentally creating a Clark Writes icon
Mehr Gunawardena, for sitting in on one of our weirdest meetings ever and applying to be on the board immediately after
Tyler Sirokman, for being our resident expert on obscure hip-hop artists and proper baby-delivering technique
(Also for all of their hard work and dedication, of course)
And finally, thank you to everyone who read at our forums, submitted to our contests, and checked out the blog every now and then. You passion for writing is what keeps us going, and I’m grateful to have been a part of that.
See you in the fall,
Jess Hoops, Editor-in-Chief
P.S. The winning entries of the Writing and Photography Contest will be our final post of the semester. THERE’S STILL TIME TO SUBMIT! Send a piece of writing accompanied by a self-taken photograph to firstname.lastname@example.org for a chance to win a $50, $25, or $15 gift card to Acoustic Java (details here). I don’t know about you, but I sure could use that coffee to get through the last couple of days before grades are due.
